Meet The Residents

Class of 1997

Consuelo Casillas, MD
Harvard Medical School

Consuelo was raised in a Chicano community in California and went to Harvard Medical School. She has a B.A. in genetics from University of California, Berkeley, with a minor in ethnic studies. Consuelo has organized and taught a drug awareness course for inner city students. She completed an American Heart Association Fellowship. A certified aerobics instructor, Consuelo also enjoys rollerblading, weightlifting, cooking, and modern dance. She has performed with the Ballet Folklorico group at Harvard.

David Douglas, MD
Albany Medical College

David says he can’t remember when his interest in medicine and science first developed. This interest has been a constant background in his career path, along with a commitment to helping patients of varying backgrounds. He graduated from Albany Medical College, and has a B.S. in biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. David is a gourmet chef, and is also interested in running, skiing, biking, tennis and music..

Michael Folino, MSW, DO
University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine

Mike graduated from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. After receiving a BA in psychology from Boston University, and an MSW from Boston College, Mike worked as a counselor, teacher, and psychiatric social worker with troubled children and families for seventeen years. Mike has worked with Camp Joy, a Boston Community Schools therapeutic recreation program for children and adults since 1986.

Laura Hershorin, MD
Tufts Medical School

Laura completed a Health Promotion Disease Prevention Project on pediatric iron deficiency anemia at the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center in the summer of 1991. She is from the Boston area, and received her undergraduate degree in Biology from Brandeis. Before entering Tufts Medical School, she worked as an EMT for Bay State Ambulance in Malden, Medford, and Revere, MA.

Susan Krolewski, MD, Ph.D.
University of Massachusetts Medical School

Susan left a career as a mechanical engineer with a Ph.D. from MIT to follow her high school interest in medicine and attended the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Growing up in a large family in Western New York, she was a long distance runner, and now enjoys biking, hiking and camping with her daughter.

Julie Ozaydin, MD
Tufts Medical School

Julie is from Iowa, and earned her BA in literature from Hampshire College before attending Tufts Medical School. After college, Julie traveled in Turkey and Greece to trace her family’s roots. Julie has been an EMT in Cambridge, MA, and worked at a shelter for survivors of domestic violence. She has also led college students on week-long backpacking trips.

Kim Putalik, MD
Brown University School of Medicine

Kim grew up in Armonk, New York. She attending Brown University School of Medicine, and also received a BA in visual arts from Brown. While an undergraduate, she was captain of the women’s water polo team. She has completed a fellowship in Brazil studying sterilization regret. Kim’s medical interests are in family practice, women’s health, and obstetrics. She also leads groups in outdoor activities.

Edward Scully, MD
University of Massachusetts Medical School

Ed attended Villanova and UMass Amherst to obtain a degree in political science, and Columbia University for an MA in Social Studies. As an undergraduate, he spent a summer in Spain studying Spanish. He has a degree from the Universite de Paris, has coordinated famine relief in Ethiopia, and worked as a mental health counselor at Great Brook Valley Health Center in Worcester. Ed attended medical school at the University of Massachusetts.

Kári Terán, MD, MPH
Tufts University School of Medicine

Kari is originally from Portland, Oregon. She received an AB in psychology from Occidental College of Los Angeles, and completed a combined MD, MPH program at Tufts University School of Medicine. Her interests lie in health, both physical and mental; and in hiking, biking aerobics, sewing and reading.
