Meet The Residents

Class of 2008

Keisa Bennett, M.D., Murray, KY
University of Kentucky College of Medicine (MD)
University of Kentucky (MPH) Murray State University (BS)

Keisa’s secret role model was the country doctor who treated whole families as well as communities. She discovered public health, then family medicine and was convinced these were the best ways to achieve her goals. Her experiences include working in a Salvation Army student-run free clinic and learning about prejudice through her church involvement with the gay/lesbian community. Keisa has a limited knowledge of Spanish and German. Her interests include religious and philosophical discussions, the theater (audience & backstage) and playing team sports and cycling. Keisa is now a Faculty Development & Policy Fellow at Georgetown University in Washington D.C.

Shirin Madjzoub Celebi, M.D., Mannheim, Germany
University of Witwatersand (MBChB)
University of Michigan (MPH)

Having lived on three continents, Shirin has been exposed to many of the global disparities in health prevention and treatment opportunities. She has participated in both grassroots development projects as well as interned at the WHO. She plans to practice in an underserved setting working in the field of global health and international development. Shirin is has a background in German, French and Farsi. Her interests include swimming and yoga as well as traveling and cooking. She is passionate about service to humanity and is an active member of the Bahá'í community. Shirin is currently a HIP Fellow with us, as well as working on CDC grant work with Dean Cleghorn, our Director of Quality Management & Research.

Scott Kaiser, M.D., Chicago, IL
University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine (MD)
Vassar College (BA)

Scott never planned to be a doctor. But after his step-father literally died in his arms from a massive coronary, he returned to college determined to become someone who could facilitate healing. Scott’s time working with a drug recovery program intensified his ambition to help and heal and a summer at a camp for children with diabetes reinforced those feelings. Scott is proficient in Spanish and has a conversational command of Italian. His leisure interests include sailing and surfing, bicycling, travel and the arts. Scott is now a Geriatrics Fellow at Harvard University. He continues to work at our health center per diem.

Amber Cay Lambert, M.D., El Paso, TX
Boston University School of Medicine(MD)
University of the Incarnate Word (BS)

Amber’s desire to study medicine began at age 4 as she watched her father lose his battle with cancer. The struggles that followed for her uninsured, immigrant mother gave her first hand knowledge of the difficulties our patients face. Amber spent last summer working with a pediatrician serving the street children of La Paz. This experience cemented her desire to eventually serve the poor in developing countries and believes a residency serving a marginalized population is the best preparation. Amber is a native speaker of Spanish. She also tells us she is a wine enthusiast and loves to travel. Amber is now a volunteer physician with Catholic Relief Services in Manila, Phillippines.

Ariadne Mueller, M.D., Boston, MA
Drexel University College of Medicine (MD)
Bard College (BA)

Ari’s interest in biological sciences and social justice lead her to the decision that the best way to combine both interests was family medicine. Her desire to provide health care to the indigent was strengthened while working with Avodah, the Jewish Services Corps, at NYC’s largest food pantry. Adri also worked with the transgender community and hopes to improve their access to health care. She will spend a month with the Indian Service in Arizona and then work with inner-city adolescents later this year. Ari’s leisure time interests include bicycling and cooking. Ari is now a faculty member in our program, with an international medicine focus.

Abigail Rattin, M.D., Pittsburg, PA
Pennsylvania State University (MD)
Messiah College (BA)

Abigail views it a privilege to share intimate moments of human need. Her experiences growing up in West Africa, participating in malaria research, her leadership role in a student-run clinic for Harrisburg’s homeless and time spent in Honduras and various countries in Africa have confirmed her calling to providing excellent health care in resource-poor settings.. She is committed to provide health care tempered with compassion for each patient. Abby is fluent in French and conversational in Spanish. She has played violin since childhood, sings in church, and has introduced African percussion to worship services at her church. She enjoys travel, time with her husband, and spending time outdoors. Abby is currently doing research concerning the physician’s role in the spiritual aspects of well-being. Abby is currently pursuing an MPH during her residency.

Anuj Shah, M.D., Marion, IN
Loyola University of Chicago (MD)
Washington University (BA)

The child of immigrant parents, Anuj finds himself dedicated to service. He has pursued this goal in divergent ways: by being a medical volunteer staffing a small hospital Haiti, thru a medical ministry to Elias Santana Hospital in the DR, belonging to Physicians for Social Responsibility and distributing partner violence materials on L&D floors in Chicago hospitals. Anuj is proficient in conversational Spanish. One of his most important interests is his participation in Buddhist services. He also has a love of music from diverse genres. Anuj is now a Faculty Development Fellow at MacNeal Hospital/Family Medicine Residency in Berwyn, Illinois.

Joey Tryon, D.O., Taunton, MA
University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
College of the Holy Cross (BA)

After one of her students died from TB, she realized the necessity of incorporating health issues into her science curriculum. She also served on the Peace Corps HIV/AIDS Committee and is active in an organization promoting Family Medicine specialty. Joey knows Sesotho, the indigenous language of Lesotho in South Africa. In her spare time, she enjoys watching movies, listening to music and travel.
