Marjorie
Affel, M.D.,
Tacoma, WA
Drexel University (MD)
Drexel University (MPH)
Tufts University (BS) Biology, Women’s Studies
Marjorie feels that the key to truly making a difference is the same as the key to becoming a good
family physician: listening. Marjorie volunteered for three years at a student run free clinic at a homeless
shelter for women and children. During this time she witnessed the disconnect between a city with five
medical schools and a sizable segment of the city’s residents inability to access their healthcare system.
She was very active in medical school organizations such as Physicians for Human Rights, Medical Students
for Choice and AMWA. Marjorie speaks some Spanish. Marjorie enjoys sailing, cooking, reading, and
attending film festivals. |
